My Students
I have a wonderfully diverse set of eighth-grade students. They come from different financial, racial, and cultural backgrounds. They are a respectful group that honors uniqueness and truly care for others.
Diverse classrooms have also diverse needs.
I love how my students work together to learn about one another and their perspectives. They seem to understand and work to understand that humans make mistakes and can learn from them. They are also opening up more about their own challenges which in return teaches their peers about people and struggles.
My Project
My class focuses on writing a variety of essays. Often, students will gather to collaborate or give each other proper feedback. We often use markers on big white paper to help channel ideas. The supplies I am requesting will help facilitate learning in my classroom. Bean bag chairs will encourage students to sit and talk and markers will help when explaining ideas.
Not many people like to be criticized, especially when it comes to their writing.
Creating a comfortable space for sharing during that feedback time will help promote gentle honesty and less feedback anxiety. Markers, of course, will help outline ideas on paper.
