Help me give my students early writing skills essential for their literacy growth. They love to draw, scribble, and practice forming letters, but they need a dedicated space where they can explore writing in fun, hands-on ways.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want to create a Preschool Writing Center—a special area where my students can develop fine motor skills, letter recognition, and early writing confidence through play and exploration. To make this space engaging and effective, we need:
Kid-friendly writing materials (markers, crayons, pencils, and dry-erase boards)
Magnetic letters and alphabet stamps to encourage letter formation
Fine motor skill activities (tracing boards, playdough letter mats, and lacing cards)
Mini whiteboards and chalkboards for practicing writing in a fun way
Storytelling and writing prompts to spark their creativity
Comfortable seating and a writing table to create an inviting space
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
