Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are five-year-olds who are attending their first year of school and are very excited about starting kindergarten. The school where I work is a Title I school; 80% of my students are economically disadvantaged and 100% are from a Hispanic background and are learning English and attending a bilingual classroom. My students are eager to learn and love coming to school every day. They are in their first year of school and are learning how to read and write.
My Project
My students are learning how to write, build sentences, create words, write the sounds they hear on a word, and that we can write our thoughts on a piece of paper. When they go to the writing center, I like to make it engaging and inviting for them to go and work. I like to provide them with a variety of paper, colors, markers, crayons, pens, smelly markers and anything to make it more welcoming and engaging. They love experiencing writing with different tools. I think that all these supplies will enhance the writing center by letting my students get more creative with their writing process.
