My Students
My students represent the nations in the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East, but they live in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Some are second or third-generation immigrants, while others are brand new to the country and just learning English. All of them are bright and eager to learn.
My school is devoted to providing our students with the resources they deserve, but we are a struggling Title I school.
My students need to have a place to keep track of and manage notes, articles, highlighters, pencils, and the like. I'm looking to support them as they learn how to be organized.
I'm also trying to ensure that my students have access to plenty of paper - both printing and loose-lead - so that they can type their work and publish their final drafts. Which means we also need plenty of printer ink! Of course, we also need plenty of pencils because of all of the note-taking and editing we do every day in ELA!
My Project
My students will be able to organize and publish their writing using these supplies. They'll also be able to chart their ideas and print all the articles they need.
Sometimes we need a big space to get our ideas out - and chart paper can be expensive.
Help my students work together to brainstorm and organize their writing in groups by providing these much-needed supplies.
It may seem like no big deal, but simply having enough paper and printer ink is often a hindrance in my classroom. With these supplies, my students will have everything they need to self publish their work - and participate in the writing process.
