I can see it now- smiling faces lighting up, mouths open in surprise, hands fidgeting with excitement. Those are the faces of my students learning that they get to be screenwriters for the day. The joy of being able to be back in the classroom with your friends making sweet memories of the school days will be palpable. Collaborating in person is an important skill all youth will need when they enter the workplace.
These four video cameras will make all this possible.
Having lost so much time with their classmates during COVID, my students love diving deep with others into research and then creatively presenting their new knowledge to our group.
So often young people grow to dread writing. But if they know their words will be acted and filmed by their peers, oh, how much more engaged they will be.
We tried this activity in the past and our chrome book filming capabilities made things difficult. We often wished we had access to better video equipment. Our school owns one very outdated camera. In addition to writing and filming screenplays, we could write advertisements, even school announcements. My goal is that my students will see how enjoyable writing can be when they know their words will be used for such a meaningful project.
