My Project

My kindergarten students are all English Learners in a large urban school district. My students have made gradual progress in listening, speaking, and reading in English. They have a good understanding of letter-sound relationships. However, making the jump from forming ideas to writing them, is difficult for them.

Students need to practice their writing and spelling skills in order to express themselves and actively write about themselves.

The writing supplies in this project will offer multiple opportunities for my students to put their literacy skills into practice, to write about their feelings and their cultures, and ultimately help them become confident writers.
