This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have eighteen bilingual kindergarten students who love singing, dancing, and learning about their world. For the majority of them, kindergarten is their first school experience. Most of my students qualify for free lunch while the remainder qualify for reduced-price lunch. While all my students speak Spanish as their native language, they come to me with unique backgrounds and experiences.
My students are inquisitive and eager to absorb new knowledge.
They learn from each other as much as I learn from them in the short nine months we have together.
My Project
In kindergarten, students learn the basics on how to become writers. They are taught how to think about the topic, stretching the sounds of the words, labeling their drawings, writing about their drawings, and sharing their work. Writer's Workshop in kindergarten sets the foundation for success in first grade.
My students need the tools to be the best writers they can be.
Your donation will bring us spirals to journal in, colorful pencils and pens, plastic folders, and scented markers. My writers can stay organized with 3-ring binders and lined paper. Your donation will also provide my students containers for their crayons. Please help my students get the basics they need to begin their writer's journey.
