This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I remember a time, when as a student, I did not worry about not having writing paper in my classroom. Currently my students struggle with the cheap and thin paper available to them. It tears easily and it makes it very difficult for my students to write or read once it fades.
My students are articulate, imaginative and eager to read and write.
They attend an inner city school that is located in a high poverty and crime ridden neighborhood. Many come with emotional and behavior issues that make it difficult to stay focused. Our current districts budget problems have trickled down to our low performing school and our funds are drastically limited. This makes it difficult to have access to school materials that would normally be abundant in a school setting. Primarily, writing paper. The lack of paper, limits my students ability to write imaginative stories, essays and practice writing overall, this makes it difficult for my students to reach their full potential.
My Project
Having access to writing paper will enable my student to create narrative, expository and informative writings as well as publish their own books. Quality writing paper will allow my students to revise current and past assignments worry-free of the paper becoming faded or tearing. Therefore they will become more creative writers and improve their writing skills.
My students are eager writers who enjoy expressing their thoughts and ideas on paper.
This donation will allow them to unlimited access to quality writing paper and grow academically in all content areas.
