Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all English language learners living in the inner city. They all come from different countries of Latin America. They are eager to learn daily. It brings a smile to my face every morning that I greet them. They enjoy learning new things such as reading, writing, math, art, and cooking.

My students are committed to learning.

They show up on time every day prepared to take advantage of our public school system education. Our school has very limited funding for additional resources to enhance our students learning environment.

There is no doubt in my mind that I am teaching tomorrow's leaders.

My Project

For my English language learner students, kindergarten is the first time they experience the love of writing.

If provided hands-on fun, colorful, writing materials they will always remember the love of writing.

The snap-together letter blocks and alphabet letter magnets will help my students say each unique phoneme sound, putting them together, and blend to make words. After they form these words, they can create sentences using sight words learned in previous lessons and transfer that learning into early journals and eventually into the composition books.

Overall students will be able to leave kindergarten with all the knowledge they need, having learned it in the most interactive way!
