My Students

My students are eager 5-6 year old writers! All of my students are English Language Learners. They all come to school with creative ideas and stories. I would like to support their creativity and brainstorming with materials such as kinetic sand, magnetic letters and tabletop learning easels, so they can transform their ideas into words and sentences.

Our school has a large English Language Learner population.

Many of my English Language Learners come from low income households, as well. English Language Learners need an abundance of visual aids and hands on materials to support their English language development. With limits due to socioeconomic statuses, I hope to be able to provide for my students to create a very engaging, educational environment.

My Project

My students vary in performance levels and it is my job to target each students' needs! Some students are able to write full, complete sentences, while some students are still learning how to hold a pencil and form letters. These supplies will support me in differentiating my instruction, so that I can target the needs of each and every student.

Sand can help students learn how to write!

My lower level students can practice writing in sand to form letters and shapes. Magnetic letters will be used to aid students in spelling and blending letter sounds together. The cubes will allow me to assign different tasks for different groups of students, to ensure that each student is engaged in an activity to help them learn how to write. Laminating sheets will allow me to create long lasting scaffolds and visual aids for students. Folders and the sharpener will help create for a well organized and efficient classroom.
