This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Laying the foundation for creative writing starts with me. I teach in a title one school that receives little funding for basics and mid-year we ran out of paper and resorted to cutting it out of spirals. My students have creative ideas, but Require the tools necessary to make them feel successful.
My students are in love with learning.
They are proud first graders eager and willing to help each other. Many don't come to school with the necessary school supplies but that doesn't stop them from wanting them. Parents often do not have the money to buy the more expensive supplies such as binders and lined paper. I buy a lot of these resources myself. I know his might sound strange, but they even get excited about paper; It allows them to feel pride in their work.
My Project
Just having the resource will make classroom life easier. Many times I've heard from upper grade levels that student writing is atrocious. How can students express ideas that are unreadable? Writing time will be easier and story time will be more productive. Best of all we'll have paper!!
I hope you give to our classroom.
I know it seems like a simple request but our funding is that low. Writing takes place across the curriculum and is so important. It's plays a part in everything we learn and express. Thank you for consideration!
