This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our fifth-grade reading class, pencils and markers are more than just supplies—they’re tools that help students brainstorm, annotate texts, and build their literacy skills. Every day, my students dive into challenging books, take notes, and participate in writing activities that strengthen their comprehension and critical thinking.

We’re requesting pastel Ticonderoga pencils and EXPO fine-tip dry erase markers to support these efforts.

The pre-sharpened pencils will keep students writing without interruptions, while the markers will make small group work and interactive lessons more engaging. These tools will empower students to draft ideas, revise their thoughts, and actively participate in discussions about what they’re reading.

With your help, we can give our young readers the resources they need to succeed—and remind them that their voices matter on the page.
