Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our classroom, learning is active, creative, and meaningful. To support every learner, I use hands on tools and flexible strategies that meet their academic and emotional needs throughout the day.

These materials will bring our classroom routines to life and help my students feel confident, focused, and ready to learn. We use whiteboards and dry erase markers daily in math to show our thinking, solve problems, and practice facts.

Timers help keep us on track during centers or support a student who needs a break. Mesh bags and whiteboard cleaner help us stay organized and tidy. For writing and spelling, Junior notebooks, sentence strips, and lined sticky notes are essential to practicing words, building sentences, and sounding out tricky spelling patterns. We use markers and clipboards to work on projects anywhere in the room, making flexible seating possible.

In reading, students use whisper phones to build fluency and independence, and sticky notes to mark pages and take notes. Colored highlighters support close reading strategies, helping them find evidence in text. SEL is a huge part of our day. Emotion plushies give students a resource in our calming corner, and privacy boards offer space to focus during independent work or assessments. Magnetic clips proudly display their learning and make our classroom feel like home.

What makes my students special is their determination, creativity, and heart. Many face challenges with reading, writing, or behavior, but they come to school every day eager to learn and grow. These materials will meet their needs in many ways.
