Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are AP students. In AP U.S. Government and Politics, they are required to complete multiple choice and free response questions. The use of whiteboards will allow them to write out their ideas, such as thesis statements, and make changes to improve those statements with input from their classmates and the teacher. Furthermore, as they work with their small groups, their group's scribe can write out their justification for their positions and those positions and justifications can be shared and updated with input. Many of our government scenarios will involve civil rights, civil wrongs, and other sensitive issues that are important for students to understand as they prepare to become responsible members of American society.

I also teach AP Microeconomics.

The students will use the whiteboards to work economic problems, draw graphs, charts, and tables etc. Using whiteboards will allow them to update their work before final submission. As they work with their small group, they can work together and make necessary changes to microeconomic problems. During independent practice, they will use the whiteboards to compute economic problems, and they will be able to show me their work easier and make corrections since the whiteboards are erasable and reusable.

My AP Psychology students will use the whiteboards for individual work as they discover the different types of mental health ailments and prepare to respond to the multiple choice and free response questions. As in the other subjects, the students will work independently and in small groups. The whiteboards will allow them to capture their ideas and share those ideas as needed.
