My Students

Do you remember being called to the board to solve a problem in front of your classmates? My students LOVE teaching their peers, yet every time they try to write on our current slate, it falls apart! Then they have to wait for me to put the slate back together before the lesson can continue.

I have 25 energetic second grade students in my classroom.

They are eager to learn and love coming to school each day. Our school has over 1,100 students from Pre-K to eighth grade. It is a Title 1 school, which means than many of my students' families are living below the poverty line. Approximately 85% of the students receive free lunch.

My Project

I am requesting a mobile, all-purpose teaching easel and four plastic storage bins for teaching supplies because it will make instructional times much easier and more effective. I currently use a small dry erase slate that often falls apart when my students and I write on it. This interrupts lessons and wastes valuable time. Additionally, many students have difficulty seeing what's written on the slate due to its small size. With the all-purpose teaching easel, my students and I won't have to worry about the slate falling apart every time we write on it and they will easily be able to read what's on it. This will make my students more engaged and enthusiastic about learning. This easel will be used on a daily basis in my classroom and is sure to boost the reading, writing, and math skills of my students!

By helping to place this teaching easel in my classroom, you will be ensuring that my students have access to an engaging environment with minimal distractions.

They will be able to focus on their learning instead of getting distracted every time our current slate falls apart.
