Write On Wipe Off for Math! I teach 6th grade mathematics in a majority free and reduce lunch school. Math is not always my students favorite subject, but my goal is to make them love it by the end of the year. One way I do this is to make learning fun. I always strive to make my lessons interactive and kinesthetic so that they are memorable and help my 6th graders to master all their math goals.

In my classroom my students love to come to the board and display their work and solve problems. They always ask to work out problems using my white board and race each other to solve them. I borrowed a set of white boards from a fellow math teacher for a day and they fell in love with them. It was a great way to keep everyone engaged and learning and an easy way for me to check for understanding of a concept. Once I had to return the boards the students would always ask if when we were going to use them again.

A set of double sided white boards is a great way to keep everyone on task and it makes learning visual and hands on. Note taking is great in math, but sometimes my sixth graders get tired of it. Using white boards is a more interactive way for students to practice mathematical concepts and get an instant check on whether their answer is correct. I also teach students with disabilities and I have found that using the white boards works better for them instead of pencil and paper. In addition it helps that every student will have their own board, marker, and eraser. On the reverse side of the boards are coordinate grids. In the sixth grade graphing transformations is a major concept and I know having the boards for my students to solve graphing problems would greatly help them to master this objective.

Please help me make a difference in the lives of young children and empower them to fall in love with mathematics. Your donation will make it possible for my students to have hands on experience and to enrich their learning in math.
