My students need a class size whiteboard to share their math process with their peers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Ruiz's classroom raised $166

My Students
A typical day in our classroom has students engaged and working in peers. At the end of the year I want students to be critical thinkers and apply their learning to new situations. Laila Akita said, “The only way to know is to learn, relearn and unlearn.” Students can do this by showing their work.
Students are a group of gifted scholars who love to create things from scratch.
They come from a vast range of cultures and are accepting of one another. These students have been with each other since Kindergarten. They work really well in groups and love to use technology to enrich and support their learning in the classroom. They all have their own sense of humor that brings life to the classroom. My school is a small family where there is a ton of support for new teachers like myself. There are only two classes per grade. Our school's focus this year is preparing students to be college ready and having students engage in discussion in every lesson and subject. We use technology for meetings, sharing documents, data and classroom interaction.
My Project
Throughout the math lessons students are using individual whiteboards to show their work to their peers and analyze their mathematical process. Often times students also like to explain to the entire class how they came to their solution. While they share students are showing silent signals if they agree or disagree but it is often hard to see their work on a small personal whiteboard.
This project will improve my classroom because now students will be able to see how their classmates are solving their math concepts and word problems.
They will be able to analyze and show their thinking in several ways. Students will also be more eager to share their work because they will be presenting it and explaining their work. This will build critical thinking for all students and help them build on their math vocabulary.
