My students need basic school supplies to complete writing activities in our First Grade classroom. Pencils, paper, and folders will help us create writing journals.

My Students

Remember the beginning of the school year when you entered the classroom and saw all of the new supplies? Due to severe budget cuts this year, my students will NOT experience this. I have done my best to provide them with the basics but since there are 32 students my cash flow is stuck on empty.

We are in a low-income, high poverty setting where 100% of our students receive free lunch.

For the last 25 years I have spent a great deal of my own personal money on basic school supplies. I am asking for help from you so that I can create a productive and rigorous learning environment for my students without taking away from my own family. I am in need of your help in purchasing these basic supplies for activities to enhance my curriculum. I do my best to work with the lack of supplies, and never let this obstacle get in the way of teaching my students. My students are hard working, compassionate, and challenged individuals who deserve equal opportunities. Having access to these supplies will ensure my students a motivating environment to learn!

My Project

An essential part of any elementary school day is small-group instruction. My day consists of taking time to work with small groups in all content areas throughout the day. With the writing materials I am requesting, my students will receive an even more enriching experience when I am working with them. My students need paper, pencils, and folders in order to complete their daily independent writing journals. The dry erase markers will be used to practice and reinforce writing skills for both reading and math activities without using paper since that is in very short supply. They will be able to practice writing letters, words, and sentences for reading and solve basic equations during math. These materials will help make sure they have everything they need to practice their skills and learn new ones daily.

These simple supplies will help my classroom run smoothly and efficiently.

Students will have tools and supplies they need in arms reach! This will have a huge impact on our learning and enable us to participate in many lessons and activities.
