My students can't wait for writing. They want to write all day long...if I'd let them! We started a new writing program that has left us all (teacher included!) hungry for more. I want my students to leave 4th grade with a lifelong love of writing.
I am a 4th grade teacher working in a public school in Brooklyn.
I have 26 students who are eager to come to school every day and work hard to reach their goals. The school is 100% free lunch and most of my students struggled to start the year with all of their supplies. Despite the many challenges in the neighborhood and school community, my students come to school each day ready to learn.
My Project
As we continue to dive deeper into our new writing program, our wants have gotten bigger. We plan on using the document camera to display student's work immediately to the class. The camera will also allow me to model my writing as it is happening.
My students will be able to edit and revise their work using the different color pens. That will allow the students to see how far their writing changes and grows throughout the writing process. The awesome shades of paper will allow my students to create final copies of their work known as publishing. Who knows? Maybe some of my kids will become the next famous author!
A donation to my project will help the learning in my classroom.
In many low-income schools, students go without proper supplies. My students deserve to have everything they need in order to be successful. It will be amazing for my students to see their own classmates writing as we draft, edit, and revise. I will be able to instantly project the paper for the whole class to view. Also, my students will be able to see me practice the skill I want them to learn.
