Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st Century learners, who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 24 curious, natural born, third-grade scientists in a small Title I school, that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible.
I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area, so grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
With the blank books requested in this project my students will create, write and publish informative and fictional stories about multiple topics throughout the school year. In addition, my students will create their own working dictionary using the vocabulary books requested to keep a record of all of the new words they learn as young authors.
There's nothing better than curling up in a corner with a good book, especially if it is one that you wrote!
The goal for my students this year is to write and publish 8 books and present them at our classroom literacy fair at the end of the year. This project will give my students the resources they need to accomplish that goal.
