Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have so many personalities and needs, and as their teacher I really try my best to service them all. One thing that I have realized though is that my students are advocates for their education. Many of them are invested in coming to school everyday to gain knowledge that will help them go a long way.
Many of my students are 1st generation college bound students, and they are only in middle school!
If I can get them knowing more about college and providing them with so many different resources, and if that means providing them will classroom supplies or even books, to help them and to relieve some stress from parents who may not be able to give that support then I am willing to help.
My students are so special because they care, they may not always show it but they care. I am so grateful to be working at a school who wants to build that classroom culture for students, so that it is a joyful place for them to learn and want to come to school.
My Project
As a math teacher it is important for me to see what skills my students know. I do this of many different ways. At times I have them work independently, I ask them CFU questions and I have them use whiteboards.
Using the whiteboards has been one of the most helpful tools I have used while teaching to check for mastery in class.
It has allowed me quickly identify where my students need help in. I can have them show all the hard word they did to their peers. We even have played some games white using the whiteboards. However, I cannot do all this without markers.
Having the whiteboard markers for my students is a necessity. There are times to that my students are not able to provide markers for themself. So, I want to be able to help my student worry about one less material that can be difficulty to get.
