This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After many years in another teaching setting, I'm thrilled to start a new adventure at SMS. As I am new to the campus and its students, I'm working hard to stock my classroom with the supplies that each learner will need to be successful. Each of my middle schoolers will be using an interactive notebook for both reading and writing—a personalized space designed to hold essential reading resources, vocabulary tools, writing strategies, and their own meaningful responses to literature.

These notebooks turn reading and writing into hands-on, engaging experiences.

With scissors, glue, foldables, and organizers, students can interact with texts in creative, memorable ways. Not only do these notebooks help keep students organized, they also support deeper thinking, lively discussions, and productive conferences with me throughout the year.

To make this hands-on learning experience smooth and successful, we also need desk caddies to keep shared supplies like scissors, glue sticks, highlighters, and sticky notes organized and accessible at each table. These simple tools will help students stay focused, take responsibility for materials, and transition quickly between tasks.
