This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a a Title 1 school where 98% of my students receive free lunch. Most of them come to school without school supplies. They cannot afford materials because most of them are migrant families and are underprivileged. I teach Language Arts/Reading and these markers and boards will help them write, spell, and read. They have to be able to see and actually write to help them have a more meaningful learning lessons.
The snacks will help fuel their motivation to succeed.
I also do afterschool tutoring as well as Saturday tutoring. Majority of my students are hungry by the end of the day, therefore the snacks will feed their hunger and be successful.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
