This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Writing music on dry erase boards is fun and exciting, except when every mistake requires rewriting the entire staff. Laminate staff sheets work for the first two classes, but the other 25 suffer from blackened papers that fail to erase.
My students are passionate lovers of music.
This is the first year that many of them have ever had a general music course, and they are thriving in the first few months alone. They are learning to read and write music on the staff, however we continuously run into problems with dry-erase boards and lines disappearing. They work so hard, and are devouring the music that I throw at them, and I would like the opportunity to push them even further.
My Project
The dry-erase boards that I have requested will be an essential resource to my students, because it will not only speed up their writing music, but their understanding will be enhanced because they will see visually where notes fall on the staff. I am hopeful that these boards would be used by each student as he or she works on composition projects, some games, and general classroom learning. We use a version of this at present, however it would be much easier and more convenient to be able to hand each student a board with the staves already written down for them, so that they don't spend time rewriting between lessons.
450 students will have access to these boards and will be using them each week to practice ear-training, composition, and sight-reading.
As successful as they have been thus far in the year, I trust that this resource will only serve to push their musicianship to its maximum potential.
Thank you for your support - you are changing lives! :)
