This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are 24 budding writers in my Kindergarten classroom! We use the easel daily to write together. Our easel has two broken wheels; it doesn't roll and it doesn't stay balanced. We need a new easel so that we can continue to learn and grow as writers!
My students are five and six year-olds who are very eager to learn!
At our school Reading and Writing is a priority and is a HUGE part of our daily activities. My students love to write and I try my best to keep them motivated with fun writing activities. Our school is affected by constant budget cuts, therefore a new easel for my classroom is not a priority, but it would mean the WORLD to me and my students!
My Project
A new easel will provide my students with a place to watch me as I model skills and strategies that will help them grow as writers. A new easel will also provide a place for my students to explore writing in a safe and fun way as we write together in interactive writing. My students will be able to see their growth as writers as we will display our finished products on the easel.

An easel serves many purposes in the classroom; it can be easily rolled around the classroom for up close and personalized instruction, while also providing a place for writing that is accessible to all students. What may seem so basic and simple to most will mean the world to 24 growing writers and 1 teacher!
