This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My third grade students are avid language learners. They have been together in a Mandarin Dual Language Program since kindergarten. They are enthusiastic about trying out the new language they have learned in group discussions, dramatic plays, and drama productions. They are fearless about making mistakes, which fortunately, keeps them progressing.
Effective communication skills can contribute to students' future careers.
Communicative competency is thus an important life skill in the information age. My students have come a long way in language learning but need support to fine tune their oral language production.
My Project
The requested skills workbooks will make a significant difference in my students' literacy development. My class has been learning to compose informational writing. They need resources to navigate this type of writing genre. The step-by-step lessons in this requested resource will reinforce the writing process, and model great nonfiction writing. My students will learn how to research, find sources, organize information, write an introduction, developing a body paragraph, and write a conclusion. These skills do not only prepare my students for standardized assessments but they are also critical to be college and career ready. My students will write their way away with this support.
