Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are special in many ways. Our students try so hard every day to achieve their goals. They come to school excited to learn and thrive on a daily basis. The majority of our students come from low-income households and 97% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students do not have school supplies, computers at home, or an adult that is able to help them with homework.

My students are diverse learners and learn in different ways.

Many of my students need small groups with modified curriculum to learn. My students need hands-on activities to apply what is being taught to them.

My Project

My students love to doodle on their white boards with markers. However in small group my students that present math challenges are learning to add and multiply using white boards and markers. My students have learned to challenge their math partners and to share different strategies using dry erase markers and a white board.

My kids love to challenge each other during math center especially when they have mastered a skill that was once difficult.

Some students use the markers to simply solve an equation on their white boards while others get a kick out of writing on their computer screen and explaining to there math partner why the number 5 is a prime number!

Black dry erase markers are amazing and should be in every teacher's classroom across the U.S.A. They are a simple tool to help students engage and share math strategies.
