Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 3rd grade math in a low-income, high English Language Learner population school.
My students are excited about math and problem solving, but still struggle because they do not have their basic facts memorized. Without having their basic facts memorized, they have to count or draw pictures to solve problems. This frustrates them because that process takes so long!
The Learning Wrap Ups are a great resource because they allow students to practice their math facts individually in their free time. The Wrap Ups are also self-checking so students have immediate feed back on their progress. The stop watch that is included allows students to race against their own time or against a partner. They are also great for my English Language Learners because the Wrap Ups do not require them to speak English well to use them. The facts are the same no matter what language!
With your donation, my students will have a fun way to memorize math facts without the "skill and drill" of worksheets!
