Wow, My Brain is Growing!

My students need high quality Read Aloud books that will enable engaging Accountable Talk discussions and will offer support as we continue to focus on Growth Mindset practices in our classroom.

My Students

"When I work hard, my brain will grow!," a student exclaims in delight as we work hard to answer questions and solve problems.

My students are diverse learning who are invested in helping "their brains growth" by having a growth mindset.

Despite the learning and socioeconomic differences all of my students have committed to learning from their mistakes so they can help their brain grow. Earlier in the year my students set goals for the school year to keep them accountable to do the best they can. In class students are given tasks that are engaging and require them to keep trying even if they make a mistake.

My Project

Having these high quality Read Aloud books will enable students to have engaging classroom discussions about characters, their actions, and their choices in difficult situations. My students will learn through the actions of the characters in these books that when the odds were against them, people didn't believe in them, or they kept making mistakes if they refused to give up they CAN accomplish their dreams with a growth mindset.

Having access to growth mindset books with diverse characters will allow all of my students to make text to text, text to self, and text to world connections as we read.

This is a powerful connection for my students will improve their self-image and thoughts. My students will also learn that hard work and determination are required to make dreams come true and help their brains grow even more.
