My Students
My students live in a low socio-economic area that is infested with gangs and the negative activities that follow. My students have a very hard time focusing on education with all the negative distractions in their neighborhood. My purpose is to keep them inspired, motivated, and focused on excelling in life.
Daily my students remind me of their hunger to learn about innovative and interesting ideas.
They want to expand their horizons outside of their neighborhoods. My students know there is more exciting information out there for them to intake and discuss with their peers. They are hungry for important and interesting facts about the world in which they live.
My Project
The use of Scholastic magazines will help my students in several ways. Scholastic magazine is a tremendous resource for students because it inspires curiosity and encourages students to explore their world. The magazine sparks awareness of current issues for students keeping them abreast of what's going on in the world.
Scholastic as an instructional resource creates an opportunity for average students to become academic scholars.
The short informational stories have a very strong impact on the students' intellect, because they ignite their stimulus causing growth intellectually. The reading helps increase the students' stamina and prepares them for similar passages on district and national assessments. If blessed with these magazines the benefits would be astronomical for my students.
