I teach math to approximately 100 fifth graders each year! We do many projects and take several field trips! Half of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunches due to low socio-economic status. My classroom includes regular students, inclusion students (students with special needs), bilingual, ESL (English as Second Language)learners, as well as gifted and talented students.
My classroom provides a nurturing environment to all students and a comfort zone for learning and risk-taking. It is my goal to motivate students to take charge of their own learning to become intrinsic life-long learners. Students do many projects throughout the school year and enjoy seeing them displayed. Recording and showing them digitally using a slide-show within a digital picture frame would allow them access to pictures during class transitions and free time. Every child loves seeing themselves photographed and being the star at some point in the school year.
Two digital photo frames would allow me to download student work throughout the year and have it continually displayed for student, parent, and administrative view. They would create virtual bulletin boards. Students take pride when they see their work displayed and I believe would truly be excited to have such easy access to them.
Your funding will play a great role in creating a supportive learning environment. You will be allowing students to build self-confidence as they become successful and confident leaders for our future!
