My Students

Teaching is much easier when you can allow students to touch and feel what they are learning...

I teach in a high poverty school in the state of Georgia.

Most of my students come to school without the background knowledge and experience needed to know about many of our state's science standards. This makes teaching them a challenge. We feel like the more hands-on experience we can give them - the better.

My Project

I am requesting a set of prisms for our classroom to show students what happens to light and the ability to see it (and feel it) for themselves. I am also requesting a simple machines kit for the same purpose. I feel like as a teacher, if I can get these objects into the hands of my students, then the learning will be more concrete.

Science is such a wonderful subject to teach because of its WOW factor.

I love giving that type of learning to my students. These items I have requested will help give students that WOW factor.
