My Students

Do you remember looking in a microscope when you were in school and not seeing what the teacher and other students were talking about? This microscope camera will allow ALL students to view microscope slides!

My students are amazing!

They are fun, creative and like to be challenged. In my classroom we learn about science through inquiry and discovery. Our school is located in a small district consisting of about 1600 students. The community is primarily based around agriculture. It is a close-knit and involved community that care deeply about their future generations.

My Project

A big part of the 7th grade curriculum is using and learning about microscopes. Once students have a good grasp of this we get to look at all kinds of amazing slides throughout the year. These includes plant cells, different parts of the body, pond organisms and even a student's own skin cells. If you have ever had the opportunity to look at something under the microscope you know it can be an amazing experience to use a piece of technology to see details you never could have imagined otherwise. You also probably know that it can be frustrating; you can't quite get it to focus or you're not quite sure what part of the slide you should be seeing. The microscope camera will allow students to see exactly what is under the microscope! Students will be able to view an enlarged picture of the specimen on the slide individually or we can look at it as a whole class. How exciting!

A big part of science is the relationship between structure and function.

Giving students the opportunity to see the detailed structure an organism or even a part of the body enables students to start hypothesizing about how the structure of something relates to its function. And a hypothesis always leads to further exploration!!
