My students need a simple and inexpensive hydroponic system to allow us to teach a whole school about growing healthy food.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Zweig's classroom raised $173
This project is fully funded
My Students
Do you remember eating fresh fruits and vegetables? Did you ever pick your own tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, etc.? Do you think it is good to eat wax-covered and radiated fruits, genetically-engineered produce, etc.? My kids think if it doesn't come in a plastic bag or box, it isn't food!
My children are from the urban area and unfamiliar with farms and gardening.
Many rarely leave the city and most almost never leave the state. We are in Louisiana, the poorest of the states, usually, and the lowest levels of education to our youth. These children need "real-world experience to help them engage in learning and this project will put them on the cutting-edge of the future of urban gardening. If the recession worsens, they will know how to grow and survive in a financially stressed and over-populated world!
My Project
These hydroponic systems are all complete! Once they arrive, we will transplant our root-lings and grow them right in our classroom! We will also be able to use this for displays at our STEM nights, Food Day expos, science fairs, and other activities to educate not only my 143 7th grade little angels, but the entire school and the community that walks through.
Please be a part of bringing to life this newer way of growing foods without soil in water!
Our children need to know that all food comes from the sun through the process of photosynthesis and that this process makes both our food and oxygen!
They will be able to see it in full view in their classrooms everyday with your generosity. Please help make this simple and inexpensive project come to life for our children! They are our future and our next generation.
