My students need a new rug to start the new school year.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Otero's classroom raised $578

My Students
Our classroom gathering spot is where we learn, read, listen, and write. The theme of the rug I chose is a map of the world. I would love for the students to drift off into far away places while reading their stories. I also feel that a safe and comfortable environment allows my students to succeed!
My students come from low-income families.
Their school supplies and meals come directly from our school. Teachers at our school find the burden of supplying much more than our share of knowledge to our young scholars.
Our school is a rather small school in a poverty stricken area. There are gangs, violence, and drugs all around the community in which our school is located. Because of this, our school remains our students' only source of safety and security.
In our classroom, there are two teachers. There is a special education teacher and a general education teacher. We provide ALL of our students the support and guidance they need daily to succeed!
My Project
By providing my students with a carpet for our gathering area, you will have given them an opportunity to learn comfortably and safely. My students cannot sit at their tables all day and the carpet will allow them to feel a little 'at home' while their among their teachers and classmates.
During independent reading, several students will be able to read on the carpet which will create a comfortable environment for them to jump in to a short story or novel!
Many times, our students do not get to experience anything brand new and I strongly believe that this carpet will provide them with a better learning environment! They'd also be very excited to learn about the different parts of the world!
Our classroom gathering area would benefit greatly by a carpet because of the comfortable and educational design.
Our 25 students can comfortably sit and learn on this carpet. Their desire to 'read on the carpet' during independent reading time will increase, which would THRILL their teachers!!! :)
