My students need a worm farm with 50 red worms, a worm farm kit, and a worm composter classroom kit.

We are a third grade class in Missouri that is always ready to learn new and exciting things! We are a high-need urban school that is always seeking hands-on opportunities.

My students and I were reading an expository text that described how worms turn trash into compost. My students were so mesmerized by this process that they asked if we could create a worm home so worms can provide our school gardens with compost in the spring.

In order to provide my students with an involving, hands-on project, we will need a worm kit and a composter classroom kit so that my students can have a better understanding of how worms convert their food into carbon dioxide for plants and discover the busy nature of worms. Our class also needs a worm farm with 50 red worms so students can create their own habitat for the worms. Students will be able to collect and store the compost created by the worms for our school gardens in the spring!
