My students need worms and a composting bin to create a composting facility in our classroom that can be used to compost all fruits and vegetables from school lunches.

My Students
Special Needs students crave engaging, hands-on learning in the Science Classroom. Giving my students real-life knowledge on how to make soil from garbage which then can be used to grow their own food is an experience that can have a positive, lasting effect on their families and communities.
Our school is a Title I school.
Over 95% of our students are qualified for free lunch, free breakfast, and free public transportation. In spite of the many challenges our kids face, they are still willing to work hard and continue to have a love of school. They know that school will provide them with opportunities to be successful in life. With your help, their goal will be one step closer! We really appreciate your time and generosity.
My Project
Students will use these materials to reduce food waste in the cafeteria while building healthy soil. They will gain a hands-on understanding of how food can be composted and see the results of their labor when they use the newly formed soil to grow plants they can eat.
These materials give students skills they can use immediately as well as into the future.
Understanding how to recycle food waste and grow your own food can positively affect an entire community's health and well-being. These skills also provide job opportunities for Special Needs students who are eager to gain marketable job skills upon graduating.
