Worm Castings: Nature's Organic Fertilizer

Help me give my students worm bins to make nutrient-rich soil for the school garden. The Garden Club is dedicated to using sustainable, natural, organic practices.

My Project

The worm bins will show students how nature's simplest creature, the earthworm, can create great fertilizer for our garden beds. The compost bins will get the entire school community involved! The worm and compost bins will help us capitalize on free resources to create organic fertilizer.

Worms love banana peels, apple cores, and nearly all vegetable waste, and since our school has around 1000 students, there is plenty of compostable material to feed the worms and the compost bins!

Our gardeners will continue to become better humans by learning another facet of organic gardening. They will learn how to create and care for the vermicompost. We are reducing, reusing, and recycling anything and everything we can!
