My Students

Students at my school are from diverse backgrounds and need to experience curriculum in new and innovated ways. My school serves students from rural and suburban homes who are of diverse cultures, races and backgrounds. It is my hope that through new course electives and content in English, I will help students at my school build a continued and strong love of literature.

Students often feel that general English classes are disconnected from their personal lives and new literary resources can help change those feelings.

They do not see themselves in the literature and do not see the literature as exciting or engaging. Through Donorschoose, I hope to help my students learn more about literature that they find interesting, engaging, and connected to their personal lives.

My Project

World Mythology is a newly developed elective at my school. I have worked hard to create a course where students can explore their literary interests beyond the exploration of the general education English classroom.

It is my goal, with these resources, that my students will be able to build a love of literature and of literary inquiry, while also learning about themselves and the world of which they are a part.

I hope that these classical resources will forge connections between cultures and diverse students as we explore the connections that exist in mythological works.

This course will also help to build students as life long learners who are aware and respectable to others and their cultures.
