This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For years, thirteen to be exact, I would pull down and use the wall maps in my classroom on a daily basis. After the pandemic began, our school moved to another area in the building. I was told that my maps would be moved to the new classroom. Unfortunately, that never happened and I have not had a classroom map to show students where any of the histories that they are learning are happening. Yes, I provide them with copies of maps but that is not the same as being able to walk up to a wall map (or have students do that) and show a classroom immediately where something is located.
We are respectfully asking for wall maps so that our Social Studies classroom can once again center the geography that is at the heart of every historical event.
