My Students
My students show pride in everything they do! I love their smiles each morning when they come to school, and I love watching how older siblings help their younger siblings get breakfast and get to class. Being the music teacher at this school means I see 580+ students every week and being new to the school means there is still a lot to learn about each and every one of them. This project is for the 5th graders in particular, to give them a special unit in drumming.
My Project
My students would love to experience world drumming! Help them have access to these wonderful tubano drums for use in music class and for concerts. These drums will give my students the opportunity to create their own rhythm compositions and to perform accompaniments to the songs we sing! They will also have the opportunity to improvise on their new drums. I hope to build their collection of world instruments over time, but know that the drums are the most important foundation. Eventually the set will hopefully include agogo bells and shakeres to play African ensemble music. Please help us build the foundation of our goal!
