Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a Title One School we are located in a low income neighborhood. They are eager to learn but lack the necessary supplies. School starts in August and parents struggle to purchase supplies or even uniforms.
My students are hungry not for food but for knowledge.
They come to school with hopes and dreams. I want to enchance their dreams by increasing their knowledge. Fifth grade is a crossroads for my students as they are on their way to middle school. My students enjoy working on workstations.
My Project
Students hands-on activities are key to the success of student learning. Ideally class begins with an engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate. During the elaborate section student work on hands on activities in workstations.
Students need the bean bags for our reading work station.
Some workstations require students to sit in the floor, we are asking for the carpet squares. The carpet squares will be use during stations, to prevent students from sitting on the floor. We also are asking for storage crates, each crate is use to hold each of the stations. Students know to pick up a crate and work on the activities inside the crate.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
