My Project
Our district has a big focus on math and science. It seems that the science and social studies have been placed on the back burner. As a result of this, research shows that test scores are lower in science and social studies. Standards are given but there is no new social studies curriculum in place. I want my students to be well rounded; therefore, I pull social studies activities into all subject areas. Having resources, such as center games and activities, geared specifically to social studies will allow me to better engage my students in that area.
Social studies gives students a broad understanding of history, geography and cultures around the world, while also teaching them how to be good citizens and manage their money.
I want my students to learn more about their civic duties and responsibilities and get a better understanding of how the government and economy work. They need to know how the economy works. Please allow me to teach more by incorporating these games into my daily lessons. My students will be more interested with games because of their competitiveness and reasoning abilities already gathered. Please help me bring these resources to my classroom.
