This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine coming to school in the United States without any prior schooling or knowledge of the English language. Even though my students have not been in a school setting before, these newcomer and migrant students are so curious and capable of learning sophisticated topics! I am an ESL teacher for students in our rural town of Indiana.
My students are in the English as a second language (ESL) program.
These students are recent immigrants to Indiana who have little or no English proficiency and who may have had limited formal education in their native countries.
In my classroom, we are learning to read and speak English.
74% of students in our northern Indiana school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. About 48% of our students are identified as English as a second language students. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
The wobble chairs that I am requesting for my students will be used daily by many sixth grade students. These chairs will be easy to wipe down and keep clean as well as allow my students to move while learning to read.
These chairs and large fidget will help me maintain and grow a positive and energetic learning environment.
My students will love to use these flexible wobble chairs to complete online learning activities as well as reading in small groups. In my classroom, we have a safe, risk free atmosphere and I truly want my students to be comfortable and remain engaged.
