My Students
We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.
The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!
You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!
In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.
My Project
My students need alternative seating options to maximize their learning potential. Many Kindergarten students struggle to sit in a seat at a table or desk for long periods of time. These independent tables will allow them the more flexibility and encourage independence.
Research has shown that providing early childhood students with alternative seating allows them to better thrive in an increasingly academic learning environment.
Specialized seating is also important for our students that have low muscle tone or that struggle with appropriate posture. These desks can provide continued support throughout the school day for students that need to strengthen core muscles.
