Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project at our school aims to empower 5th and 6th-grade students with essential social and emotional skills through engaging literature and interactive workbooks. Recognizing the critical link between emotional well-being and positive behavior, the project will introduce a curated collection of age-appropriate social-emotional learning (SEL) books that explore topics such as empathy, self-awareness, conflict resolution, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. Complementing these books, thoughtfully designed workbooks will provide students with opportunities for reflection, self-assessment, and practical application of the concepts learned. Activities will include journaling prompts, role-playing scenarios, and problem-solving exercises, fostering a deeper understanding of their emotions and how to navigate social situations effectively. The goal is to cultivate a more supportive and understanding classroom environment, equipping students with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally as they transition through their intermediate years.
