My students need a long lasting, high quality picnic table to facilitate group work outside the classroom.

My Students
"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in my classroom, including the teacher! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.
My classroom is filled each day with two groups of twenty-two fourth graders exhibiting a full range of reading abilities.
The classroom is full of activity as we fill every minute with reading and writing of some sort. Our school is a STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.
My Project
Since a large portion of our day is spent working together in pairs or small groups, it is important to have areas inside and outside of the classroom to facilitate the space and noise level necessary for such groups. We learn in a small portable classroom with limited space, so we rely on the outside space to give us more room to learn. Unfortunately the picnic table that we have depended on for six years gave way this past school year to the hot, humid Florida weather. Therefore, we are left with an unconducive learning environment outside the classroom to "spread out" and learn.
Since my school is a small, secure campus we have a perfect outdoor learning environment right outside our classroom door.
Having this picnic table will give us more learning space to practice essential skills such as collaboration, teamwork, listening and interpersonal relationships while mastering the required standards, giving my students the opportunity to go "above and beyond".
