I am thankful everyday for the privilege to teach such a diverse group of learners. We come together on a daily basis, learning from one another.
We are a public community school, where parents who once attended are now bringing their own children.
Our students grow up in a unique walking/biking community made up of seven hundred students grades three to five. I have personally had the privilege of teaching numerous siblings and have come to know many families in this tightknit community. This is a wonderful group of learners who are future leaders.
Continual encouragement is imperative, so they can become the best learners they can be. With various backgrounds, they all encompass the need to grow and learn so they can become a competitive, functioning citizen.
My Project
Meeting students' basic needs is a must in order for real learning to take place. It is wonderful to have a stash of snacks to take care of the hunger so more focus can be spent on learning.
Having a working snack makes for happy, productive learners.
If a student fails to bring a snack or simply does not have one to bring, it is a quick fix to grab from the snack drawer to help take care of that hunger. Otherwise, there are more questions like, "When is lunch?" rather than, "How can I solve this math problem differently to get the right answer?"
