Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A day in the life of my second graders is full of fun as we all share in the love of learning. From writing and mailing letters to each other at school, to exploring what it's like to have a real job, we are always busy learning!
My underprivileged students live everyday to the fullest, and for most of them the best part of their day is going school!
School is the one place they always feel safe, know that people are cheering for them, and they get a guaranteed two meals (breakfast and lunch) every day. All of the support we give them comes back through their happiness and success, and a BIG thank you every year.
My Project
With the materials I am requesting my students will work cooperatively, and with my support, to expand their knowledge in language arts, math, and science. The centers kits will allow for multiple options of which activity to assign or let them choose from. Centers also allow for exploration and gives students a chance to ask questions and try to find answers on their own or with a small group. I have also requested a shelving set to keep our materials organized, and some bulletin boards to display our achievements.
Since we have new standards to follow, these students now need even more exposure and chances to explore throughout our units so they can have a deeper understanding of why and how things work.
It's not just a matter of completing the task at hand, it's now about having the ability to know what you did and how to apply it to other tasks for a successful future!
