A typical day in my classroom in full of creatively where I encourage my students to use their imagination. Some of my students have trouble opening up and being creative which can be a struggle. I hope by the end of the year my students will be confident in their creative ways to follow their dream.
My students are between the ages of 6 and 7.
Though they are young, they act beyond their ages and seem to have missed out on the experiences a young child should have. I can tell that my students wish to just be kids and use their imagination. The students in my class and school are from a poor urban community that is exposed to violence and situations young children should not experience. Our school tries to provide our students with a positive and loving community for their learning experiences. Not only are my students getting an education, they are also learning how to be positive people in the world.
My Project
Our classroom library is very small and the students are frustrated with the fact that they have already read most of the books. The amount of books I have requested will expand our classroom library giving the students a wide range of books to choose from. Many of the books I have requested are classic stories that I believe my students should read. By providing my students with so many choices of stories, it will improve their background knowledge and increase their imagination. Another resource I have requested are bean bag chairs for the students. I would love for the students to use these while they read or do work so they can have a break from their chairs. The bean bags will also act as an incentive for the students who struggle with their reading. I have also requested an easel so that I can teach some of my lessons on the rug. This will allow the students to be closer to me while I am teaching and the students will see the board with examples much easier.
These donations will greatly improve my classroom, because they will be encouraged to read new books.
Most of them have little to no books at home; therefore, their classroom should be full of books. I believe these donations will help boost their creatively and imaginations with the wide range of materials that will be provided to them for the best learning experience I can provide them.
